About me...

I am Leyre Contreras. I was born in Madrid in 1976. I studied Business Administration and I work since 1998 in a multinational company. Few years ago, I started writing just for me with the aim to figure out my feelings and organize my thoughts. Being divorced and having found a new partner, in January 2015 I was told I had breast cancer, I was 38 years old. At that point in time, my children were 8 and 9 years old.

Once I finished the treatment, I decide to write about my process through Cancer, taking into account a couple of close friends opinions who cheered me up to do it.

I also love making "Talks", sometimes at schools with an NGO called "Deporte para la Educación y la Salud", and some other times, by myself collecting money for Fundación Aladina. The objective of these talks is to make people aware about cancer, about what can they do to prevent it and also sharing with them the effects cancer provokes. Currently, I keep on working at the same company and in 2017 I started my psychology studies.

BODY

We do only have a body and to take care of it depends on ourselves. Human being has not been programmed for a sedentary life. That attitude only contributes to increasy the chances to develop a disease. To include in our routines exersice is needed. An active life can be whatever you choose: a 30 minutes daily walk, to go up the stairs instead of the lift, long walks in nature, swimming, running, skating, futball,...  The most important is to move yourself.
